Jeff Perfater, a USCG Master Captain, this is a customized learning experience designed around the needs of a new vessel owner with the many intricacies of his new boat including best boating practices, electronics orientation and general maintenance scheduling and responsibilities. Our complete 4-6 hour course is broken down as follows :
– Control Panel (AC & DC routing and operation)
– HVAC operation and maintenance
– Proper use of the generator
– Toilet issues, maintenance and troubleshooting
– Windlass operation and troubleshooting
– Full understanding of every component in the engine room along with suggested maintenance schedules.
– Line handling and fender arrangement and Tie-ups
– Rules Of The Road
– Optimum running and handling protocols
– Basic electronics overview (chartplotter, sonar, radar, radio)
– Anchoring
– Docking ( Side ties and slip returns)
– First Mate Responsibilities
– Proper nautical terminology
Additional instruction on “in depth” navigation equipment usage and chart reading is also available for an hourly rate.
